Cellular & Integrative Neuroscience Cellular & Integrative Neuroscience

Organised by Jan Schnupp and Benjamin Willmore, University of Oxford, UK

Tuesday 12 July 2011
LT3 (Large lecture theatre Sherrington Building)

The world we experience is to a large extent the product of our brains. As our sensory systems interpret the sensory stimuli that impinge on them, they have to invent perceptual attributes such as the pitch of a sound or the colour of light, or have to infer 3D depth from 2D retinal images. These "perceptual decisions" in turn inform cognitive decision making. The speakers in this symposium will introduce and discuss a range of techniques and approaches that can be used in order to spy on the physiological brain processes that turn physical stimulus parameters into subjective perceptual experience.
