Stem cells offer the potential to regenerate scar tissue following myocardial infarction and to prevent the decline into heart failure. However, a large number of questions still remain, including the best cell source and most reliable method of administration. This session covers the origins of cardiac stem cells and applications of both embryonic and adults stem cells, including the use of stem cells in clinical trials and in the generation of engineered heart tissue.
