Voltage-clamp fluorimetry has emerged as a powerful technique for relating the growing number of ion channel structures to the conformations that underlie the function of these membrane proteins, which are integral to electrical signaling in all excitable tissues. This symposium will provide an open exchange of the technical details and benefits that come with its application to channel gating and biology and will be of interest for membrane biophysicists with interests in cardiovascular, neurological, and other systems which utilize electrical.
